Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is filler?
Dermal Fillers are soft, injectable substances that most often come in the form of liquids or gels. Injected into the dermis or subcutaneous layer of the skin, Dermal Fillers improve the visible signs of ageing by replacing lost fat and filling out the space below wrinkles, fine lines and cheek hollows. Dermal fillers can also be used to achieve a plumper lip or repair a variety of other facial imperfections.
Q. What is Botox?
Botulinum Toxin is a neurotoxin made by the bacteria Clostridum Botulinum, an anaerobic bacteria found in soil. Botulinum Toxin is purified for clinical use and cosmetic use. Botulinum Toxin Type A is used for clinical and Cosmetic uses. Once injected in the muscle, the mechanism of action of BOTOX® causes temporary muscle paralysis by inhibiting the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from motor nerve terminals.
Q. Do fillers hurt?
Yes... but everyone experiences pain differently and the vast majority of our clients return again. A numbing cream (3% lidocaine) may be applied prior to the procedure to help minimise any initial discomfort. The injection itself also contains an anaesthetic within the product to ease pain of injection.
Q. Will there be swelling?
Yes... you will experience swelling and may experience redness and bruising in the injected area. These effects should not last longer than 1 week, in some cases 14 days depending on how much treatment and how much product you used.
Q. Can I wear makeup after treatment?
To help minimize the risk of infection we suggest leaving a few hours after all treatments.
Q. How long does it last?
Every individual is different, generally speaking fillers last 6-18 months depending on where the filler is and how much you have.
Q. Can I remove it?
In most cases filler can be dissolved and reversed by hyaluronidase. This is administered via small injections to break the product down.
Q: How can I book a consultation?
Go to our contact page. Every single treatment automatically includes a consultation to allow a tailored approach to your treatment. There is an initial cost of £25 for the consultation which is then fully redeemable against the treatment.
Q: Can you tell me what products you use?
At Pro Dermal Aesthetics we use the Teoxane Range . The toxins we use are Bocouture and Allergan . The products are chosen for their quality, longevity and because medical research supports the use of these products.
Q: How long is the recovery time for treatments?
It’s quite common to experience swelling and bruising for up to 14 days following treatment. However you should not experience extreme pain or itching.
Q: I’m not able to attend my booking, please can I reschedule?
If you wish to change the date of your booking we require a minimum of 7 days notice. If you wish to change the date within 7 days of your booking you will be charged £30. To make a change to your booking, please go to the contact page.
Q: How old do you have to be for treatments with parental permission?
All clients must be 21 at the time of the treatment. ID may be asked for.
Q: Can I bring my children?
Unfortunately, children are not covered under our business insurance. We are using needles in a medical environment and the practitioner needs to concentrate and focus entirely on you. Therefore, sadly we cannot permit children to attend.
